The European Commission (EC) has set up a taskforce with the soul purpose of negotiating Britain’s exit from the EU.
The task force, headed by Michel Barnier, will prepare and conduct all negation with the UK regarding their choice to leave the union.
Another big name in the taskforce movement: Sabine Weyand. From October 2016 she will cover inter alia WTO matters, trade defence, TTIP and neighbourhood policy.
It’s said that ‘This new task force will be composed of the Commission’s best and brightest.’
The decision to form a new taskforce follows an informal meeting that took place in Brussels during late June. In the meeting they agreed that the UK exit from the EU must be organised in an ‘orderly fashion.’
Previously Mr Barnier has overseen 40 laws aimed at tightening regulations on banks and marketing in attempt to reform the financial services industry. This did not settle well with the City of London. His plans included capping bankers’ bonuseswhich caused much dispute from the then chancellor George Osborne.
