Often overlooked by couples, Marriage Allowance can allow you to transfer £1,100 of your Personal Allowance to your husband, wife or civil partner. This will reduce their tax year (6th April to 5th April next year)
The conditions on the allowance:
· Only the higher earner can transfer the £1,100.
· The lower earner must have an income of £11,000 or less
You can still apply for Marriage Allowance if you are currently receiving a pension or if you live abroad- as long as your entitle to a Personal Allowance.
