In previous posts, we have warned of the popular email scams that are spread by scammers impersonating the HMRC to trick tax payers out of their hard earned money. (LINK BELOW)
The game has changed. Although the bogus emails are still thriving, clients have recently noted PHONECALLS.
The calls have been reported to be very ‘believable’ and ‘HMRC themed.’ One of our clients has even told us of a voicemail that was left alerting ‘CALL THE HMRC BEFORE THEY TAKE LEGAL ACTION’- fake of course.
The HMRC will NEVER ask you to provide any personal or financial information by text message or email.
Always alert the HMRC if you suspect you are being contacted by a scammer (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Be safe, not sorry.
