In celebration of yesterdays ‘International Women's Day’ we are featuring another one of the world female idols: Carol Burnett.
Carol Burnett is a highly respected comedian and actress who ran the infamous sketch and variety show, ‘The Carol Burnett Show,’ throughout the 1960s and ‘70s.
Born in San Antonio, Texas during 1933, Burnett rose to fame through her guest appearances and specials before receiving her very own comedy-variety programme in 1967.
She has won countless awards which includes one of the most respected awards, given to the creative minds who influence American culture with their art: The Kennedy Center Honors
Burnett also has made guest appearances on several hit TV series such as Desperate Housewives (2006), Glee and Law & Order in 2009 and 2010.
TV series were not her only successes either. In 1982 she appeared in the blockbuster musical Annie. She also hit the stage in 1959 with her Broadway debut in the musical Once Upon a Mattress.
She really did do it all! Which is shown by her numerous awards and honors, which include Golden Globe Awards and the 2006 Presidential Medal for Freedom and a star on the Walk of fame!!
She hasn’t stopped either!!
In 2013, Burnett won one of the greatest honours bestowed to comedians: The Mark Twain Prize for American Humour.
A brilliant lady, who has set the path for many aspiring comedian, actresses and theatre performers.
