It’s a new year and a new chance to get and STAY on top of your expenses! Expenses for actors can be tricky. But this 3-part blog post will make it simpler than ever!
Clothing is an allowable expense for actors, depending on the conditions of the clothing. The clothing has to be for work use and not intended for any personal use as well.
Cosmetic surgery is allowable as long as it is necessary for your profession. There must be a given reason for why the surgery was necessary, e.g. teeth straightened due to the TV close ups.
Make up and hairdressing is also a recognised expense when there is a clear link to the business purpose. For example, make up needed for auditions and rehearsals.
Start Up Costs
Start up costs would be the costs that an actor incurs prior to registering as self-employed. These costs can be subscriptions and other related costs.
